Where the mountains still remember your name
74 acres · Fifty dwellings · Western Pennsylvania · Opening 2027
The Laurel Highlands · Westmoreland County
This land has been in our family since the seventeenth century. We are not building something new. We are remembering.
Carpathique is a sanctuary in the Appalachian foothills — fifty dwellings of six distinct types, set across 74 acres of ancient forest. Every structure is built by hand, every material sourced within sight of the property, every tradition carried forward from the Carpathian villages our family left behind.
This is not a hotel. It is a homecoming.

Opening
Fifty ways to disappear.
Six dwelling types across fifty units, scattered through seventy-four acres of ancient forest — from creekside cabins to a private estate. Each built by hand. Each designed for stillness.

Vatra
Sleeps 2 · 520 sq ft · Creekside · Private Trail
Stone and timber at the water's edge. The creek is your only clock. A single room with a hearth, a handmade bed, a writing desk under a window that doesn't need curtains.
$650 / night

Dziamko
Sleeps 2–4 · 780 sq ft · Forest Canopy · Suspended Bridge · Creek Access
Twin spires rising from the forest floor, joined by a suspended bridge over a living creek. Cedar-shingled towers with wrap-around glass. A dwelling that belongs more to the canopy than to the ground.
$750 / night

Smereka
Sleeps 2 · 680 sq ft · Canopy Level · Suspended Bath
Lifted into the arms of century-old spruce, thirty feet above the forest floor. A glass panel in the floor. An outdoor copper bath hanging from iron cables. Sleep where the owls sleep.
$850 / night

Zirka
Sleeps 2 · 600 sq ft · Ridge Summit · Retractable Roof
The highest point on the property. At 1,400 feet, the stars don't twinkle — they burn. A heated stone floor. A retractable roof panel. A wood-fired sauna. The sky is the architecture.
$950 / night

Verkhovyna
Sleeps 4 · 1,400 sq ft · Mountain View · Private Deck + Fire Pit
A cathedral of angles rising from the forest floor. Fourteen-meter glass walls frame the canopy. The masonry heater — hand-built from local fieldstone — holds warmth long after the fire dies.
$1,200 / night

Polonyna
Sleeps 6–8 · 3,200 sq ft · Valley Panorama · Private Čan Spa + Garden
Rammed earth and hand-adzed timber. A gathering hall with a double-height піч at its heart. Four bedrooms. A private čan carved from a single iron vessel. The only light at night comes from fire and stars.
$2,800 / night

Stoyanka
Sleeps 14–16 · 6,000+ sq ft · Private Compound · Dedicated Staff · 3-Night Min
An entire world within the world. Your own hearth, your own forest, your own sky. A private compound with dedicated staff — the silence of a thousand acres distilled into one address.
$5,500 / night
What the land offers.
The čan
An ancient Carpathian bathing ritual. Iron, fire, mineral water drawn from the mountain, juniper-infused steam. Two thousand years of practice, one vessel.

The forge
Shape metal with a master blacksmith. Leave with something you made by fire.

The silence
No WiFi. No signal. No agenda. Just you, the creek, and the oldest trees in Pennsylvania.

The table
Foraged ingredients. Ancestral recipes. A long table under the canopy. Twenty-four guests. No menu — the forest decides.

The clay
UNESCO-tradition Kosiv ceramics. Work the wheel with an artisan whose family has thrown pots for six generations.
The trail
Seventy-four acres of unmapped forest. Guided at dawn, solo at dusk. The mountain doesn't care about your schedule.

The sauna
Cedar and stone. Fire-heated. Plunge pool fed by spring water. The cold is the point.

The hearth
Evening storytelling around the central pech. Carpathian folk tales. Herbal tea. Honey wine. The fire does the talking.

Frequently asked
In Spring Church, Pennsylvania — in the heart of the Laurel Highlands of the Appalachian Mountains. Less than four hours from New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., and just one hour from Pittsburgh.
No. Carpathique is an American sanctuary in the Appalachian Highlands of Pennsylvania, designed and crafted by master artisans from the Carpathian regions of Ukraine, Romania, and Slovakia. The heritage is Carpathian. The home is Appalachian.
Krok ($50), Putnyk ($250), and Rid ($1,000) tier deposits are fully refundable at any time, no questions asked. Hospodar tier deposits are fully refundable within 12 months. Mistryk and Predok tier deposits are fully refundable within 6 months. After that, all deposits convert to lifetime credit toward stays — because your custom-commissioned keepsake is already being made.
Opening is planned for Summer 2027, with founding members receiving priority booking and up to 50% off published rates — the deepest discounts we will ever offer.
Yes. Carpathique is a registered non-profit organization. A portion of every reservation directly funds the Paraskeva Mission — providing shelter, meals, counseling, and vocational training for women in need.
We are working with acclaimed studios from Ukraine's architectural community, known for projects featured in Dezeen, ArchDaily, and international design publications.
Every structure is handcrafted using centuries-old Carpathian building traditions. A working monastery — the Paraskeva House — serves women rebuilding their lives. The wellness program draws from Europe's oldest living folk medicine tradition and our natural mineral springs. There is nothing else like this in the Western world.
Yes. Founding guests receive invitations to hard-hat tours as construction progresses. These are informal — you walk the land, meet the builders, see the structures taking shape. Dates are announced directly to founding guests via email as they are scheduled.
Krok, Putnyk, and Rid deposits are fully refundable at any time. Hospodar deposits are refundable within 12 months, and Mistryk/Predok deposits within 6 months. After those windows, deposits convert to lifetime stay credits. Once Carpathique opens and your deposit converts to a confirmed reservation, standard cancellation terms apply — full refund up to 60 days before your stay, 50% within 30 days.
Your deposit goes directly toward construction and artisan commissions. It funds the work happening on the property right now: timber selection, foundation work, the arrival of craftsmen from Ukraine, and the creation of your custom keepsake. When you check in, the full deposit amount is credited to your stay. Not one dollar is lost.
